Do Black Lives Really Matter To Mayor Lori Lightfoot As Chicago Sees This Insane Surge In Gun Violence?
(Tea Party 247) – The United States is falling apart at the seams. The Democrats have been working tirelessly to undermine President Trump, China has found a way to completely destroy our economy (with the help of the left), and now a full-blown race war seems inevitable. Those are only the tip of the iceberg.
Underneath all of that are hurting communities all across the country. The livelihoods of millions of Americans have been upended, businesses everywhere have been forced to closed, and people are just unsure of what the future holds. In major cities gun violence is surging but Democratic leaders, like Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, are more concerned with pledging support for the radical political group Black Lives Matter than actually saving black lives.
In Chicago alone gun violence is up 76% from last year. That is a remarkable increase.
NBC News did a report on the violence that is plaguing American cities:
Over 1,500 people have been shot in Chicago, almost 900 in Philadelphia, and more than 500 in New York City so far in 2020 — all up significantly from the same time last year (1,018 in Chicago, 701 in Philadelphia and 355 in New York).
The surge in shootings has been particularly painful for communities of color, which have disproportionately endured the weight of the COVID-19 crisis, the economic recession and social unrest following the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis in May.
In Chicago, where minority communities have long struggled with deadly gun violence, shootings have increased 76 percent from the same time last year, with nearly all the bloodshed concentrated in the city’s predominantly Black and brown communities on the South and West Sides.
Among the victims was a 7-year-old girl, Natalia Wallace, who was fatally shot at a family gathering over the Fourth of July weekend on the West Side.
While a rise in shootings is common during warm months, this year has been much more complex, said Christopher Herrmann, a former crime analyst supervisor with the NYPD and professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.
“There is a multiplication factor happening right now. Not only is it summertime violence, but there is COVID-19, police protests and job loss,” he said. “All of those factors are going to exacerbate violence, especially in communities that were already vulnerable.”
Predominantly Black neighborhoods in recent decades have averaged five times as many violent crimes as predominantly white communities, according to a 2016 study by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
In Chicago, 79 people were shot over 4th of July weekend alone but apparently this is all white people’s fault? Crime is less in white neighborhoods than in black neighborhoods because…racism?
Who does this actually make any sense to? Obviously, Mayor Lightfoot is of the belief that increased gun violence is because of white people oppressing black people as evidenced by her support of Black Lives Matter.
Perhaps if Lightfoot cared about those within these hurting communities she would be less focused on politics and more focused on figuring out how to make things better and reduce gun violence. Instead, let’s just blame white folks.
